I saved this as I am constantly sending it out. I had bad luck with the screw, caused the engine to hesitate, that’s why my comment below . . .

The #1 question of new Interceptor owners:

The governor on my 2004 is in the metal tray in the engine compartment right behind the cab. Slide the bed back (don't have to remove it), just unscrew that wing nut on the very back. Then to access the computer stuff and the little black box pictured below, remove the screws holding the top of the metal tray on. Find the black box. Forget about the screw. Cut the black wire and tape it up or alternatively, you can unscrew it from the lug that is attaching it to the metal and tape it. Either way (I taped mine). Then I would strongly suggest that you use some kind of silicone sealant on the lid top to make darned sure that moisture and rain don't get in, especially the part that butts up against the back of the passenger compartment, I'd use silicone sealant to seal that puppy securely and then just bolt it on and you're set.

First, may I suggest don't cut wires just screw the small brass screw clockwise until you have the required speed Mine I set at 65.

Second, on my 04 no pop rivets were removed or need to be just take the nuts off the top of the aluminum box they are 7/16, and the heads are on either side of the seat inside the cab, just lift the box cover straight up, the governor id a box is about 1 1/2" by 2" by 1" thick with a hollow bottom, the screw is on the bottom.

I hope this helps.

Hello,

I've surfed and surfed, but haven't figured out how to access (and then disable) the governor on my 2009 Go-4. I know it's in a metal box behind the cab, but I'm not sure if I need to remove the side panel to access it or if I need to pop the rivets. Once I have access to the metal box, I'm told the governor is in a little black box with several wires that go in/out. Which wire do I disconnect? Any help from my fellow 'Little Car' owners, is appreciated. Thanks. Kim in Seattle

P.S. - For those looking for insurance, I had my vehicle insured through State Farm as a car and then registered as a motorcycle. I will note that I went to two different State Farm offices and only one could figure out how to insure it. It was pricey ... $200 for 6 months.
