[Silly Little Cars] Purchasing GO-4

Considering a GO-4 to replace my Cushman Police 3-wheeler. I like the easy
access to engine on the Cush, but my Wife likes the automatic trans of the
Go-fer. It seems the engine compartment access would negate  anything
permanently mounted on the back
of the Go-fer. Am I wrong?
Are there 'good' year/models of the Go-fers(or bad)?
