[Silly Little Cars] Silly_little_cars Digest, Vol 53, Issue 1

Alec,

I find this sort of public drama *extremely* distasteful, but since you've dug up ancient history and spewed it to a large-ish list in a half-cocked diatribe, you left me little choice but to state some (quite thoroughly documented) facts:

1) Skot Kuiper (note correct spelling) and I settled any/all conflict *years* ago, and agreed to bury the hatchet/ not discuss it at all. I have kept my word, even though he did a great deal of damage, and the fact you've brought it up here proves he has broken his word. I've discussed it with no one until now.

2) I don't know who you've allowed to whisper in your ear, but your very public attack has now put me in the position of either a) breaking my word, or b) allowing my reputation to be trashed unfairly *by the moderator of this list*, whose opinion holds a lot of weight here!  Pretty evil. If you didn't think about this, the person who's been whispering in your ear obviously did.

3) Kuiper has publicly -in writing- admitted that his old conflict w/ me did not start with us. Rather, he stated, he was arm-twisted into initiating a fight with me -while he was my landlord- by a third party. I then tried to leave the situation in an orderly manner, but that wasn't fast (or destructive) enough for them, and legal action (later proved baseless) was initiated against me by this "nicest" person (who, BTW, refused rent. I didn't stop paying). I did defend myself at that point, but I went no further, and stopped fighting as soon as he did. Kuiper himself will confirm this, and that I dropped all charges when he did, and that I never involved building inspectors - thats just a vicious rumor added to the tale. As is the idea of the space disbanding - unless Skot himself was just getting tired of being badgered into a pointless, energy-wasting, harassing legal confrontation with an old friend. -for which I wouldn't really blame him. But I
can't be blamed either, as I had even less choice in the matter than he did. I did not initiate it or perpetuate it. I defended myself only.

Perhaps that third party is the same third party thats been whispering in your ear, Alec?  hmm?

4) So, we have two situations in which someone in a position of power over me -who I'd known for years and never before had a problem with- was *handled* in such a way as to create stupid public drama that aided no one.

Coincidence?
doubtful.

Alec, you and Skot were both played like a fiddle - and used as a weapon. This was done with no regard for the harm it might bring to either of you, or to others - so long as it hurt me, they didn't care about collateral damage.
Whereas I do care.

..And that, my friend, should tell you everything you need to know.

I was at his shop when you two were talking.

He's been nothing but nice to you. You brought him a burned up Cushman (literally: the thing caught fire, the engine is charred, all wires and hoses are melted), and he was nice enough to say he'd take a look at it. He told you it would be expensive, you balked, so he very understandably didn't want to work on it. Now he's been storing it for you for at least 3 months without you even offering to give him some money. Ever. You've never given him a cent, you just call and abuse him on the phone.

And then you publicly trash him?

Seriously????

For the other people reading this, John Voldol has a long history of screwing over people in his community. He lived in an artist space in San Francisco run by the nicest person you could imagine (Skot Kyper) and by the end of it John wasn't paying rent, was threatening to have him busted for code violations (code violations!!!), and eventually took out a restraining order against him. The entire space was almost disbanded.

I'd advise any mechanic to steer clear of him, dealing with him appears to be a guaranteed headache or worse.
