Arcane Tour d'Elegance, Thursday 8/18


For those who are interested, or will be in the Monterey area for the Pebble
Beach Week, (also known worldwide as the Concours d'Lemons Weekend), there
will be an Arcane run on Thursday August 18, organized by members Ray and
Carla Nierlich. The run will start in Salinas at the Cherry Bean Gourmet
Coffee Shop 332 S Main Street, gathering at 8:30 or so for a real time (not
Arcane time) departure of 9:30, for a back roads tour ending in Carmel. We
may even have off street parking arranged about 4 blocks from Ocean Ave.

The idea is to have the end of our tour come into town along the same route
as the Pebble Beach Tour d'Elegance, so that we too can wave to all the
folks lining the roadway in order to greet us, (or to greet someone else).

For those who do not know, the Pebble Beach Concours contestants can
participate in a street tour which ends on Ocean Avenue in Carmel. The cars
are then on display for the public, without paying the price of admission to
Pebble Beach on Sunday.  It is a great time to view and drool over
multimillion dollar pieces of rolling automobilia free of charge. My
suggestion is to leave the big metal belt buckles at home, since there are
no velvet ropes surrounding the cars.

Ray is arranging for box lunches, with a price range of between $10 and $15
per person, since the restaurants are jammed, and seem to misplace
