<div dir="ltr">@ Goaliefergie: Many Asian-made vehicles used a Mitsubishi gear-reduction starter and many have an intermittent starting problem. In order of ease-to-repair:<div> I would look first at battery cables & terminals-even a small amount of whitish/green corrosion can keep the starter from getting the amount of flowing electrons it requires. Take them apart & clean them even if they look OK.(Make sure key is OFF when connecting/dis-connecting)</div>
<div style>Next would be the key switch itself. With some pain you can reach the back of switch and 'short' across the terminals to eliminate this possibility.</div><div style>Lastly, remove the starter(Never done it, so I dont know how difficult this is on a GO-4) DISCONNECT BATTERY FIRST. Where the thick battery cable goes into the starter there is a tin/irregular-shaped cover. Inside are the starter contacts-thick/copper plates.</div>
<div style>After many thousands of starts these get corroded/melted(its normal) Remove these & take to local parts store(preferably NOT a large chain store) A knowledgeable counter Person can match these up(Probably same as </div>
<div style>Hyundai models) When you buy a cheap "Rebuilt" starter usually these contacts are the only thing that's new.</div><div style>About $20 for contacts VS. $100 + for starter.</div><div style>Good luck-I hope its only the battery terminals.</div>

My Go-4 has been having intermittent starting problems (turn the key, everything lights up like normal but no crank). Do the 97 Interceptors have a Neutral Safety switch that prevents from starting the car, if so, where is it located (as from reading Festiva and Aspire forums, seems fairly common). I've looked but can't seem to find it?<br>

Also, is do Interceptors have an OBD-I type diagnostic port? I know the Ford/Mazda/Kia ones aren't OBD-II, but wasn't sure if there was an OBD-I port hiding somewhere.<br>

I'm in the Bay Area and still thinking about a 'silly" little car for me and my silly little dog:)<br>

I think the interceptors etc may be a little too small.<br>

I saw this today and began to get excited.<br>

anyone know about the Nissan S-Cargo or have any other recs of cars that are small enough but reliable enough to cross bridges etc?<br>

I have a 97 go4 and I can help you fix your car at no charge, I have replaced my radiator and water pump. you might just have a hose going bad. as far as the alt. belt it?s a easy adjustment, I would be happy to take a look at it, I would like to meet more people with interceptors.
