They gave you the wrong info. It's a motorcycle, not a car. Talk to someone else there...

You won't be able to smog it as a car since its not in their system. And in sf you won't be able to park perpendicular or in motorcycle spaces unless you have a mc plate.  At least not legally, though I think all metermaids know its a mc so maybe they'll let it slide. But speaking from experience, other motorcyclists will get pissed if you're in a mc spot if you don't have a mc plate. 

But easily solved, get it tagged correctly.
