[Silly Little Cars] '94 governor location

Mine was in the compartment under the seat.  Reference the manufactures website for the adjustments.  Easy to do, I reset mine for 50 mph.

Unfortunately, I am still yet to find the governor location on my '94 Go4!  The governor is set to 30mph and I can't stand to even drive this thing anymore!  Any additional help would be appreciated as I've looked under my seat on both sides, looked in
that tray behind the firewall and can't find anything close to resembling the pictures I've been sent as to what it looks like.

Frustrated silky little car owner,

Mike,
The panel I’m referring to is an exterior body panel on the right side. On my 96, it’s just in front of the wheel but is hidden when the door is open. It’s held in place by 2 Philips head screws with nuts on the inside. They, the nuts, should be visible
on the interior panel on the right side. The ECU in the 96, and maybe yours, is under the dash cover just above the fuses.
The rough running sounds like someone has tweaked the screw, it’s just a potentiometer and can be “over tuned”,  to high or just unplugged the governor. If it’s just unplugged, plug it up and see if the roughness goes away. If it’s still plugged up, try
turning the screw 2 or 3 full turns to the left (counter clockwise) and see if that helps. What you want to do is solve the roughness and misfire issues first, then disable the governor by removing the black wire from the plug (or cut it).
Hope this helps,
Mike

HI, Are you saying the recessed panel at the dashboard, where the fuses are located or in the engine compartment?
Mine runs like one that has it unplugged, albiet goes 70+ just rough, misfiring, etc.

I'm in NYC until Friday, I know it's a long shot but thought I'd see if anyone here might have a Cush or interceptor or whatever that I could borrow for

a few days? I can repay the favor with my interceptor when you come to San Francisco....

Steve,

I too just remove the black wire from the terminal block and taped it.

I did this on my 96 and 04. No governor on either.

What I was talking about was just unplugging the governor box entirely at the plug.

When I did that on both of mine, the ECU behaved badly. Weird idle, stalling, injectors misfiring, etc..

Plugged them back up and problems when away. Unplug just the black wire then, no governor nor ECU problems.

Also tried adjusting the speed via the governor, but opted for the disconnect method instead.

Plus like I said, my info was based on a sample size of 2 (mine) and info gleaned from the Internet and advice from other here at SLC.

Later ya?ll,

Mike

Interesting.  Unplugging it from the opposing terminal should have the same electrical effect as cutting it.  I just took mine loose from its terminal at the other end (away from the black box) and taped it up. Voila ? no governor.  If you ever want to reconnect,
just re-attach the black wire on the terminal you took it off of and secure.  Again, mine is a 2004, so may be there is something else involved with the older models, but you might want to try the disconnect method first if you are timid about cutting it.
 No harm.

Rich,

I have a 96 and it?s located behind the recessed panel that has the 2 screws in it on the right side as your seated in the vehicle. The panel can only be accessed from the outside with the door closed.

The governor is the black box that has a plug on it. The if you cut the black wire it will disable the governor.

Be advised that just unplugging it will not work. Causes the ECU to act up.

If you cut the black wire be sure to do it in a way (place) it can be easily repaired.

The black box has a screw on it that will allow you to adjust the speed to what you want.

If memory serves me right:

One revolution (turn) clock-wise increases speed by 5 mph.

Set at factory for 40 mph.

Again this from working on my 96.

Hope this helps.

Later,

Mike

Can anyone tell me where the governor is on a '94 Westward and how to deactivate or bypass it?
