One of the most successful dealers for these Xebra things is local to me in Salem, Oregon. You can see his website here with a bunch of pictures:

There are quite a number of these Xebra trikes around here, a guy just a few blocks from me owns one. I think the dealer has sold about 60 of them. The Xebra is no Cushman. I have looked them over pretty close and they are not built near as well as a Cushman. The frame is much less substantial and the body is thin. They are typical chinese quality.

They do look pretty cool and I have seen at least one on the road here that is about 5 years old and still going strong.

Much agreed. You dont want to be like Alec and have a Cushman just sitting around for people to take parts off. Thanks for the belt Alec(Hahaha). I think it will be hard to find a Cushman in the Bay Area for 1500.Though they pop up now and again. Check out City Auction In Redwood City. Glad you passed on that one Nic.

Sorry I should have clarified my reasons for pronouncing doomness. Knowing Nicole, she wants something that will start every day, not something she'll have to pay attention to. She wants something for her job. And like you I think that price is completely crazy for something that isn't running.

I say much better to spend $1500 for a running modern Cushman. The coolness factor is still pretty high on those even though Razz drives them. For a work vehicle, put a styling paint job on and you're done.

But of course this is only my $.02.

I think it all depends on why you are buying it. The coolness factor is very high, but I wouldn't want to count on that one. On the other hand, I bought a 73 a few years ago aand aftere a bit of love, we use it around the warehouse every day. I do love it, but it really kinda like an oversized go cart. I would definitely do it again...

That's a neat old Cushman. I have one the same vintage and I use it every day in the summer. If you haven't driven a 3-on-the-tree it takes a little getting used to. Not running, I would say $600 would be more reasonable, running well would be $1200-1500 but that is my area here in Oregon. It seems like there are better deals in CA. The engines are simple. As long as it has good compression you are probably going to be able to get it running well. Make sure the brakes are ok. The curved windshield Cushman are a little more desirable it seems just for the cool factor. If you are really ambitious and want to drop some money on it, there are kits to swap to a Honda or BS engine.

                Good luck with it.
